Accolades Pour In For Phil Packer
Lending Stream, a payday lender in the UK, has chosen Phil Packer as their ‘Person Of The Week’. This is what they say: “On the battlefield, stories of inexplicable courage are ubiquitous. However, it isn’t always that you see a man walking out of a rehabilitation centre in his crutches and deciding to participate in a 26.2-mile marathon. The Flora 2009 London Marathon saw Soldier Phil Packer, an ex-serviceman with a crushed spine and damaged nerves, choosing steel-willed selflessness (the Marathon is organised to raise money for wounded British servicemen) over the comforting confines of his rehab. It will take Phil over two weeks to complete the marathon, taking one painful stride after another and demonstrating the fact that “life doesn’t end with a crippling injury.” It has been a rather easy decision to pick our “Person Of The Week” for displaying superhuman courage and indomitable grit.”
